InfraTrac, a virtual tenant at Silver Spring Innovation Center, has received a $100,000 Maryland Biotechnology Commercialization Award. InfraTrac’s anti-counterfeiting solutions arm manufacturs a powerful new weapon to protect patients and brand reputations from the dangers of fake and adulterated drugs. InfraTrac extends quality assurance safeguards beyond pedigree and packaging to the product itself. InfraTrac uses spectroscopy to detect and prevent counterfeiting, adulteration, and errors in high value formulated and regulated substances, including pharmaceuticals. The company is using the funds to set up two customer pilots for patient protection, one for detecting counterfeits in pharmaceutical products and one to prevent medication errors in hospitals.
